I‘ve been gifted an experience, what’s that include?
In today’s digital age, it’s easy to snap a picture with our cell phones or have digital images saved on a laptop somewhere. While wall portraits aren’t as common, their importance in preserving and carrying on family legacies is still there.
Our mission is to get more family portraits into homes.
Studies have shown that when children grow up with family portraits displayed, it increases their sense of confidence, self-worth, and belonging. Even if you don’t have children, this shows just how powerful wall portraits can be!
This is an all-inclusive portrait experience to help families just like yours create meaningful artwork you’ll cherish for a lifetime. When you receive one of our gifted experiences, you’ll enjoy a complimentary session that is valued at $350 and an heirloom-quality print.
Family Legacy: 14” portrait valued at $700
Couples Legacy: 10” portrait valued at $350
Fur Families: Groups with 3 or more humans receive a 14” gift portrait. Individuals or couples receive a 10” portrait.
This means that the total value of your certificate is $750 to $1,050! To book your gifted experience, we ask for a fully refundable booking deposit of $150 for weekdays and $250 for Saturdays. This is to hold and reserve your session in our calendar. After you come in, have a wonderful experience, and select which of the final images you’d like as the gift portrait, we’ll get it back to you.
Your experience with us includes a private photography session with our skilled photographers followed by a private viewing session for you to see the beautiful images from your session.
This is when you’ll narrow down your selections to choose which of the images you’d like as your gift portrait.
We’ve found that many families have been meaning to do this for a while, so you will have the opportunity to go beyond the gift portrait if you would like. There’s no expectation to go that route though.
If you choose to create something special for your home, your qualified designer will guide you through the best display options for the images you love. We’re happy to work with you to help you get what you want into your home.
You can expect to be at the studio for one and a half to two hours. Actual photography time is about 30 minutes. We just want plenty of time for everyone to get settled and allow for any breaks if needed.
What is the maximum number of people allowed in a photography session?
We are delighted to accommodate families with up to 8 members in our studio, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and at ease during the session. Depending on the mix of adults and children, it could be more.
What are families wearing for their session?
This is possibly our most common question! We’re here to be your portrait guides each step of the way to help this be a fun, relaxing, and enjoyable experience for everyone, including outfit ideas and suggestions.
We are leaning into a rich, elegant, and timeless look for the Legacy project. This is an opportunity to get dressed up and have something special of your family looking their very best. Dress as you would for a fancy dinner, cocktail wedding, or graduation ceremony.
We’ve found that solid medium shades to darker tones tend to photograph best and try to steer people away from bright, bold colors and patterns, and white. Those tend to pull the eye right to that item in the final images rather than everyone looking like a cohesive family unit.

How does the refundable deposit work?
When we first started our Legacy project, we didn’t request a refundable deposit. Unfortunately, we had a terrible time with no-shows and same-day cancellations.
We do ask for 2 weeks’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling when possible, but we understand that life happens sometimes.
After your session, if the gift portrait is the best fit, we’ll refund your deposit. If you choose to go beyond the gift portrait, you can apply the deposit toward that.
Do I have to purchase any images?
We understand that choosing the right images for your home can be a difficult decision, and we want you to feel completely comfortable when it comes to placing an order with us.
If you have been gifted an experience that comes with a piece of artwork, then you can select your single image and we’ll turn it into a ready-to-frame portrait print. If you wish to use your gift as an artwork credit, then you can work with your designer to create the perfect piece for your home and apply the credit toward your order.
Of course, there’s no obligation to purchase any additional images from us, but if you do decide to make a purchase, our designer is here to help.
We will hold onto your images for 4-6 weeks (until the production of your order is complete) before we have to remove them from our server. Any images you order including your gifted image will be kept forever.
Do you have digital options?
Absolutely, we know that in this current world, people want to share their images with their family and friends. The mission behind the Legacy project is to help families get a printed piece back into their homes. If you’d like an electronic file to share on social media, holiday cards, or unlimited prints up to 5×7 sizes, you’re able to exchange the deposit for an electronic file of your gift portrait and all additional selections include an electronic file as well!

How long until I get my order?
We understand that waiting for your order can be stressful, so we want to assure you that our production time is typically 4 to 6 weeks.
We’ll keep you informed every step of the way with regular email and/or text updates, so you’ll know exactly where your order is in the production process.
This way, you can relax and look forward to receiving your artwork!
It‘s been 6 weeks, I still don’t have my order?
We pride ourselves on our handcrafted products and high-quality control standards. While we strive to meet our production timeline, there may be rare instances where slight delays occur.
Don’t worry, our production team will keep you informed via email, text, or phone call if there are any delays to your order. We understand the anticipation of receiving your special artwork, and we want to make the process as stress-free as possible for you.

What happens if my artwork arrives damaged?
We’ve been creating custom handcrafted artwork since 2006 and it’s our legacy to help you create and display your cherished memories in your home. We take great care in our production process, but there may be instances where errors occur, or the artwork is damaged during delivery.
In the unlikely event that this happens, there’s no need to worry. We have a straightforward and hassle-free solution for redoing or replacing your artwork. Just send an email to hello@artisanportrait.com, and we’ll take care of the rest.
